What are made to Measure Stairs?
As the name suggests, made to measure stairs are very different from the traditional staircases that we see in most buildings. Staircases are often seen as boring and dull items within a house or building. We challenge that at Topflight Precast and things like concrete and turned in to elegant pieces of art that are truly astounding. With many things in construction, it can often be difficult to visualise the final product. We listen to our customer’s feedback and now offer a 3D printing service to all customers – this allows customers to get a better understanding and overall view of the staircase. In addition to this, our master joiners will update you on the process and status of your stairs regularly so that you are constantly in the loop and know what is happening.
We pride ourselves on customer service and go above and beyond to ensure that all of the staircases that we produce meet and often exceed customers expectations. We also have the experience of working with some very tight deadlines and are used to liaising with architects, builders and site managers to ensure that all runs smoothly and to plan.

What are the various options that you have?
We are proud to offer our clients a variety of different options when choosing a Made To Measure Concrete Staircase. We offer a variety of straight, curved and spiral staircases to customers – Because of our expertise we are also able to offer fully unique and bespoke staircases – this means that no matter what you have as your vision for your new staircase then we can accommodate. In addition to this our production and casting process for these has quality in mind at every stage. Because of this dedication to quality we are able to safely say we are proud of every staircase that comes out of our moulds.
The casting process itself has 3 key stages – the first key stage is to make the mould. The moulds are created by our expert craftsman and built to suit the agreed design. The moulds themselves are constructed from a range of materials always including hardwood as this adds to the security and strength. Made to measure stairs are often only as good as the moulds so it is extremely important to get this first step right.
Reinforcement of Stair Moulds
Following from the construction of the moulds themselves it is then on to the reinforcement stage – this makes sure that the moulds are able to keep shape when the concrete is poured into them. Our team of expert steel fixers will work with the mould and cut, tie and bend various bars and items to ensure that the mould is fully reinforced.
Following on from the reinforcement the concrete for the stairs is ready to be poured into the mould. This is one of the most exciting parts to the job but also has its fair share of risks. Our master joiners have years of experience. Because of this experience, they are able to ensure the detail and intricacy is of the highest level. As with any form of construction, there are often impurities and areas that may need extra work. Prior to completing the stairs, we will quality check every inch of the stairs. This quality control is not done solely at the end stage but instead at every process. Our attention to detail is of the utmost importance.

Who are Topflight Precast?
Based in Lanarkshire the staircases that we offer are in high demand across Scotland and also across the UK – We know that made to measure staircases are big purchases and it is important to use the right provider. Something that is key for customers and clients to understand is that rather than mass producing the staircases we really do emphasise the unique and handcrafted element of our stairs. We are proud to have worked with some big projects one of which is the XYZ Building in Manchester. There was a £22million redevelopment and we manufactured the feature staircase for the 7 storey building. The aim was to include a flowing and modern design that complemented the ultra-modern interior. You can head on over to our Bespoke Staircase Testimonial page by clicking on the link provided.
